It might seem like an easy thing to do getting your immune system in shape.
But a healthy immune system means a healthy lifestyle, which isn’t so easy for some people.
In this article we’re looking at natural ways you can help to boost your immune system to help keep illnesses and allergies at bay.
Get Your Beauty Sleep
You might have noticed that when you don’t sleep all too well, you usually end up with a cold or generally feeling under the weather.
No it’s not your imagination.
Even 6 hours a night is too little for most people if you can’t get your 8 hours at night for whatever reason (children, restlessness, something waking you up), try to get an hours nap in later in the day, but don’t make it a routine.
Your only routine should be going to bed at a good time and waking up after at least 8 hours.
Even on weekends, try to stick to the same bed time routine and try to get up at normal time too.
This can help to prevent insomnia and won’t disrupt your sleep pattern for the week.
Make Sure You Get Exercise
Exercise is important for healthy immune function.
But you have to realise it doesn’t mean you need to hit the gym!
If you’re not naturally a very motivated person, try doing a gentle form of exercise like yoga or even dancing to your favourite music.
It all adds up.
Walking to work can do the trick too, or have a gentle stroll after lunch to stave off the afternoon nodding dog.
Eat More Healthily
Many Western people these days eat too much processed food, refined sugar and fatty foods.
Ideally, you should be eating a plant-based diet for the best immune boost but if you’re not ready to quit eating meat, at least cut out the big no-no- refined sugar foods and sugary drinks, high fat foods, processed foods, takeaways (you know the stuff we mean!)
De-Stress Your Life
If you’re stressed a lot of the time it can take its toll on your immune system.
You need to de-stress for a healthy immune system, and if that means de-cluttering your life then so be it.
Perhaps you’re trying to fit too much into your day.
If you’re anything like me, you should ask for help, or take it when it’s offered instead of always doing things yourself.
Share parenting duties like bath and bed time with your partner.
Save time going shopping by doing it online.
Don’t accept every single invitation to do something in a week, learn to say NO!
Have A Laugh
Having a good giggle is good for your body in general and that means your immune system too.
So don’t take everything so seriously. Find your sense of humour again.
