Dr Patricia Saintey
Dr Patricia Saintey began her medical career as a doctor in the army and as a regular serving officer. After leaving the army she took up General Practice in Somerset where she worked full time as a partner in a practice in Chard for 9 years.
A prolonged sabbatical, forced initially by her own health, enabled her to undergo a variety of studies looking into nutrition, homeopathy, craniosacral therapy and finally embarking on a Diploma in Integrative Medicine looking into the evidence behind complementary therapies.
Dr Saintey reviews all health questionnaires in addition to supporting the health team at each location.
Kirstie is our Senior Naturopath at Amchara and is responsible for the in house training for all naturopaths and health team members at our retreats. She works closely with Dr. Saintey integrating any changes and recommendations she advises. Kirstie was trained in Australia where naturopathy is given much more credence than it is in the UK and where naturopaths work much more closely with doctors.

Gosia is one of the lead naturopaths at Amchara who specialises in digestive health, weight loss and stress management. She believes strongly in the power of nutrition to bring about radical transformation and well-being in her clients’ lives.
Gosia says: "I love to empower my clients to take charge of their health and experience the highest sense of well-being and zest for life".

With a kind and empathetic nature, Ju Bernardes is a gifted Naturopath who is passionate about nutrition and environmental sustainability. Her work is deeply rooted in a holistic approach and she loves nothing more than sharing her knowledge to inspire positive changes in people’s lives.
Equipped with sound expertise, a sharp focus on global trends, scientific research and a genuine desire to help others and the planet, Ju seeks to empower and inspire her patients to heal themselves and live a life that is healthy and fulfilling.
Emotional Support Therapist
Tracey is an NLP Master, NLP Trainer and Well Being Coach. She discovered NLP whilst training to be a counsellor in 2002. Since then she has continued to study it in many forms, as well as sharing it with others through teaching NLP Practitioner courses, facilitating retreats, workshops and one to one sessions.
Holistic and Emotional Support Therapist
Aly joined the team at Amchara in September 2014 . A registered nurse who has been studying and practising natural therapies since the mid 1990's . She holds qualifications in Massage , Reflexology , Indian head massage , Hot stone massage . Aromatherapy , Facials , Colonic hydrotherapy , NLP and EFT and offers an holistic approach to her treatments that are tailored to meet your individual need. She is one of our therapists and also an emotional support staff member.
Ad. Dip NH
Jane started as a Holistic Therapist in 1994 practicing in Massage, Aromatherapy, Holistic Counselling, Reflexology and Reiki. After an illness a few years later, she developed her studies more into natural health and nutrition and she graduated in Nutrition and Naturopathy in 2008 with The Nutritional Healing Foundation.
Jane has since trained in Dynamic yoga and Somatic meditation and has worked on many different retreats in Europe, health spas and clinics in the UK.
She has a wealth of life experiences and qualifications to help nurture and support you through your own journey to wellbeing and health and can always be found walking around the retreat checking everyone is being supported.
Health Team & Yoga Teacher
David is a master practitioner of NLP and provides emotional support, guidance and transformational one-to-one NLP coaching and personal breakthrough sessions to clients at Amchara. He is also a qualified yoga teacher, massage therapist and Reiki master. He often gives talks on mental and emotional health and well being and is always available for a casual chat, or to arrange a consultation or treatment.
Anoushka is a Naturopathic Nutritionist who specialises in digestive health and mental health.
She is particularly interested in the link between the gut and the brain, and has trained with Dr Natasha Campbell Mcbride to become one of her GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) certified practitioners. She trained at the College of Naturopathic Medicine and works in private practice in London, where she supports clients on their journey back to health through empowering and educating on all aspects of wellbeing. Anoushka goes on a journey with her clients to explore all avenues - from what they eat, to their relationship with food, stress levels, exercise routine and any potential health disrupting or energy draining factors. Anoushka enjoys spreading the word of health through consultations, private cookery classes, talks, writing and charity work.
Rose Chamberlain is Brazilian and has been living in England for the past 14 years.
She is a teacher, certified Chef, Detox and Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist, graduated from the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London in 2014.
She has specialised in teaching healthy-cooking classes and holding workshops about healthy-ageing lifestyle and gut health.
Her areas of interest are the Microbiome, HIV and cancer. She is also studying for an MSc in Personalised Nutrition at CNELM - Centre for Nutrition Education & Lifestyle Management in partnership with Middlesex University London. The Healthy Tree is the banner under which she provides Corporate Health talks, catering, retreats, workshops, nutritional consultations and product development.
Clinical nutritionist and Naturopath
As a clinical nutritionist and naturopath Alexandra can help patients with a number of health concerns. She recognises the concept of biochemical individuality and firmly believes no one diet is right for everyone. Her focus is on determining the specific and unique needs of each client in nutrition, lifestyle and supplements.
Alexandra studied Human Biology at University; her focus during these 4 years were modules in neuroscience, biomedicine and nutrition. She completed her independent research project investigating the use of Vitamin D supplements for the prevention/management of Parkinson's disease.
After graduation she worked at The Natural Doctor on London's Harley street where she trained as a thermal imaging technician and learned the basics of nutritional breast cancer prevention. This led her to complete post graduate diplomas in Nutrition and Naturopathy at CNM London where she received 2 years of clinical training.
She now has her own private practice in London and runs a health consultancy business.
Allison’s enjoyed a lifelong relationship with naturopathy as she grew up using natural medicine to support and improve her own health. She went on to graduate from the University of Westminster with first-class honours in Naturopathy and Health Science but first completed a BSc in Psychology.
Allison takes a whole systems approach by identifying barriers to health such as lifestyle, poor digestion, dysfunctional breathing or how you react to the stress in your life. She loves guiding people though lifestyle changes and has a special interest in the prevention and reversal of chronic health conditions; digestive and thyroid health; anxiety and stress management; and anti-aging through the use of DNA analysis.
She focuses on personalised nutrition, not dietary labels, and works with nutrient dense wholefoods without the need for calorie counting.
Front of house team
Noelle has lived in the West country of England for most of her life and has over 30 years experience teaching yoga, holding a British Wheel of Yoga Diploma. She has travelled extensively in India and Asia and studied Therapeutic Thai Yoga massage in Thailand, training at the Sunshine School of Thai Yoga massage in Chaing Mai.
Wendy has been practising yoga for the last 30 years and qualified as a teacher over a decade ago. She enjoys teaching those who are experiencing yoga for the first time as much as those who are at an intermediate level and specialises in working with those who have injuries or illness.
Tai Chi & Hypnotherapist
Malcolm is an experienced Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist. He is also a teacher of the Chinese mind and body art of Tai Chi. Malcolm regularly enjoys sharing his knowledge of how the mind works through his talks at Amchara, helping clients understand what is needed to become the happy, positive and self-confident people they might want to be. He is usually available via private appointment to meet with clients who wish tackle a particular problem during their stay. His aim with clients is always to provide them with knowledge and tools that they can take home with them.
Laura is our UK Retreat Manager. She has been interested in complementary therapies since she was 18. She started her career in health services early by founding a health centered café at the age of 20, offering juices, smoothies and sugar free options, which was unheard of at the time. Since then she has also owned a Holistic shop and therapy centre and has been a Holistic Therapist for many years before joining Amchara.
Nay is our assistant manager at Amchara Malta and came to Gozo at the start of the retreat last year and did a total detox of 37 days and has changed her life around because of her experience.
It’s because of this intense detox experience, that Nay feels she’s able to understand exactly what guests go through on their detox journey and is able to provide valuable support.
Nay is a treasured team member at Amchara because of her life experience and extreme compassion for others. Look out for her colorful dresses and vibrant flowers.
Cath is a qualified RYT 200 Yoga Instructor and Mindfulness Meditation teacher and has practised
for over 20 years.
She is passionate about helping people to become better connected to themselves, to be aware of how they think and feel so as to help them realise their potential in their work and personal spheres.
She has a particular interest in mental health (particularly stress, anxiety and depression) and in using
Mindfulness and Yoga to help people sleep better, think more clearly, be able to work effectively
and ultimately be more content with their life.
Anna has worked on health and detox retreats for the past 7 years both as a raw chef and front of house supporting guests during their detox.
At Amchara, Anna gives talks educating guests about how to make healthier food choices that are nourishing, easy to implement and taste delicious. Anna is passionate about cellular health and her talks cover how the food & lifestyle choices we make impact the way we feel.
Back of house team
Mike has worked as a Chef since the age of 15 training as an apprentice at the Michelin starred Castle Hotel In Taunton. He has worked in fine dining Hotels for many years and was executive Chef for the Holne Chase Group. He took over as Head Chef At Bindon Country House in 2003.
In 2013, Mike was introduced to raw foods which completely transformed his approach to both food and cooking. Inspired by the Amchara team, Mike started making changes to his diet and lifestyle incorporating organic food, fresh juices, raw meals and exercise.
Justine is an experienced Administrator with over 16 years experience of working in customer facing administrative roles.
She has always had an interest in health, fitness and nutrition and really values the knowledge gained from working with the team at Amchara.
Julian Miu Dimana
Kitchen and Housekeeping
Julian works in the kitchen and housekeeping.
He hails from Spain. Before coming to this country he was a masseur and Reiki therapist.
He prides himself in keeping fit, practising Reiki and the challenge that Amchara offers to 'Change for Good'.
His ethos is 'Today is the Best day because it is the only day we are experiencing!'
Natasha has spent several years working within the health and fitness industry. Having experienced personal health issues in the past, this led her on a journey to do her own extensive research on alternative ways to heal mind, body and spirit.
With a degree in Media & Communications combined with Natasha’s passion for healing oneself through a ‘real food’ diet, she channels this knowledge through her writing and blog posts for Amchara.
Justin is the co-founder, along with Karen, and Managing Director of Amchara.
